Shamim is a queer, Muslim, feminist, and human rights activist. She has been working towards building a strong LBQ movement in Kenya that will create spaces for LBQ womxn in Kenya to reclaim their voices and addresses a gap within leadership and organising safe spaces for and by LBQ womxn. Shamim currently works at Church World Service to advocate for the rights of LGBTIQ+ refugees, as well as advocate for radical inclusion of LGBTIQ+ persons in places of worship. She is also a board member of UHAI-EASHRI which is an indigenous activist fund which provides flexible, accessible resources to support civil society activism around issues of sexuality, health and human rights in the East African region.
