Weema self-identifies as a non-binary queer person, is an LGBTIQ+ activist from Tunisia. They are passionate about empowering the LGBTIQ+ community in Tunisia and Africa and raising awareness about their issues. Weema was born and raised in Tunisia. As a co-chair and member of the Board of Directors at African Queer Youth Initiative, they are responsible for initiating and leading the strategic planning process of the African Queer Youth Initiative and facilitating and directing activities. They are also currently the coordinator of Mawjoudin Queer Film Festival in its third edition, which will be taking place in March 2020. Weema is in charge of coordinating the festival and its different aspects, from the selection process to the Management of administrative documents, drafting of regular reports for project monitoring and supervising the production of a short film as well as other artistic productions. Weema is on a continuous mission, advocating for human rights, gender equality and LGBTIQ+ rights with the aim that one day, people would be able to enjoy freedom and equality without having to leave their country
